The package includes a $200 million credit guarantee provided by the United Kingdom government.
The meeting, held on the sidelines of the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington, brought together the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, the Foreign Minister, and Egypt’s ambassador to the United States.
Abdalla will also represent Egypt as governor at the African Development Bank, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates acting as alternate.
Long-term external debt amounted to $119.26 billion in 2023, compared to $111.09 billion in 2022.
The updated figures were released on Tuesday in the Bank’s Economic Update for the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan and Pakistan (MENAAP), titled Jobs and Women: Untapped Talent, Unrealized Growth.
